In this Year for Priest 2009, we are delighted to have an ordination to the Priesthood at St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday 21st November at 12 midday. David Pick was an Anglican Priest in the diocese of York for over 23 years, he was an Assistant Priest at Howden in the village of Sledmore and then he was an Assistant Chaplain and then the Chaplain at Her Majesty’s Prison, Maximum Security prison at Full Sutton in York.

He had been thinking of moving across to being a Catholic for some time, and so he decided that would be the direction for him. He still wanted to be a Priest in the Diocese of Middlesbrough and the Bishop allowed for him to be directed and helped in this journey. In August 2009 David was ordained a Deacon, where he has been helping in St John of Beverley parish with Fr Roy Lovatt, and on the 21st November 2009, he will be ordained a Priest for this diocese and he will then conitinue to be a resource for the Pastoral Area of St. Everilda.

David has been married to Diana for 37 years and they have one son Andrew. They live in Driffield.

We keep David in our prayers as he prepares for his ordination, and invite you to come along to his Ordination of Priesthood at St Mary’s Cathedral in this the Year of Priest.
